Who Is Nerd Java?
Nerd Java Coffee is a small, Mom & Pop style home based, licensed, coffee bean roastery offering unique flavors and low acid coffee owned by filmmakers and married couple John and Charity Johnson, also owners of PirateWorX Media.

What Is Special About NJ?
What makes our coffee unique, in the vast sea of coffee makers, is our special roasting techniques, and our Nerdy Flavors which are out of the box and intense. We show our love of the bean through our attention to the big and small details.
We do exstensive experimentation to make sure each bean type is roasted to the best level possible to bring out the beans best flavors. Every coffee bean is different and deserves this attention, and our customers smell and taste the difference.
Our specialty coffee beans are also the base of our flavors so that the bean enhances the overall flavor adding to the flavor profile, no bad bean coverups over here.
We also sort through the coffee beans pre-roast and post roast to make sure all the “bad beans” are removed so that they do not disrupt the overall flavor of the bean.
Where Is NJ Located?
Nerd Java is Located in Gardena, CA which is in the South Bay surrounded by nearby cities Torrance, Inglewood, Hawthorne, and Carson in Los Angeles County.
At this time we are licensed to sell only to individuals who live in California.
We are hoping that our coffee takes off locally so that we can expand our license to ship to the continental USA.
When Did Nerd Java Begin?
Nerd Java officially came to Market in December 2023 with their first official in-person event, a Christmas Tree Lighting at the Enclave Harbor Gateway, though the coffee journey of ideas and experimentation began in 2021.
Why Start A Business In An Already Over Represented Industry?
The inception of Nerd Java Coffee was twofold.
First, the idea was initiated shortly after the first few episodes of PirateWorX Media’s YouTube Webisode Series reviewing Movies, TV, and Video Games, of the same name, ‘Nerd Java.’ After the success of this series, the show producers (now the owners of Nerd Java Coffee, John and Charity) wanted the hosts to drink actual Nerd Java coffee on set. Due to location issues conflicts the show is currenlty on hiatus, but Nerd Java Coffee was able to continue forward.
The second fold is that Charity was told, around this same time, that she could never have coffee again due to Acid Reflux issues. As she was loathe to give up coffee due to her working mom status, she and John thought this was a perfect opportunity to explore methods of making coffee less acidic.
