History of Winter Fire

We offer 2 Flavor Options: Winter Fire & Winter Fire Extreme
Winter Fire is the Second Official Flavor of Nerd Java.
This Coffee can be purchased in both Whole Bean and Ground bean options.

After our success with Fireball we wanted to delve deeper and find a flavor that give the java lover all the feels of winter while still capturing the spice of the Fireball.

After looking, and looking... and looking for a good chocolate flavor that was strong and intense that would compliment Fireball we realized we were going in the wrong direction.

We then started exploring all the flavors of the season: Ginger, Clove, Eggnog, and Allspice.

Then it hit us... We don't need to make the Cinnamon more spicy... we needed to cool it off.

At first we thought Cinnamon and something minty might be a little strange, but then we started experimenting with a variety of mint, wintergreen, and peppermint flavors.

We soon found the perfect combination that was breathing in the fire and blowing out the coolness of winter.

We are so excited to share this flavor with you!

Winter Fire

A Winter Flavor

Winter Fire brings the heat of Fireball followed by an immediate cooling of peppermint.

An added perk is that this coffee leaves your breath fresh. No Joking! No more coffee breath after drinking this cup of java.

Like Fireball, Winter Fire is sugar free though you would not believe your tastebuds.

Offered in two cooling intensity flavors Regular and Extreme.

EXTREME Winter Fire is perfect for those who like the intense spicy flavors followed by an an intense cooling sensation. Fans of Intensely spicy flavors will enjoy this version as it brings two big punches with both the Cinnamon heat and the cooling Pepperming.

REGULAR Winter Fire is a softer version which still gives you all the joy of the sweet and spicy cinnamon, and cooling peppermint flavor without making you feel like you are sipping peppermint snow. This version is for those who love sweet and spicy cinnamon and the cool feel of a peppermint candy, but would rather have a pleasant sipping experience.

FAQ's and Recommendations

Our goal at Nerd Java is to make strong and flavor filled coffee. We agree that it is an intense flavor which is why we offer two versions Winter Fire and Winter Fire Extreme.

If you are someone who needs extra dimming down of flavor, you can do any of the following:

  1. Add Milk or Creamer of choice.  This action will not water down the coffee as we use high quality specialty beans.
  2. Cut the coffee 2 parts Winter Fire to 1 part unflavored beans. You can use our specialty beans or any other beans you have on hand.
  3. Cut the coffee 1 part Winter Fire to 2 Parts unflavored beans. You can use our specialty beans or any other beans you have on hand.

Though no sugar is added to our flavored beans, the oil flavoring has a natural sweetness which comes through when brewed.  So all you need to do is drink it black, or add in milk/ creamer of choice.

The flavors we use for Winter Fire are a combination of Natural and Artificial. Both are kosher.

For our flavored beans we use both our Guatemala Kafetos and Colombia Tiple Pitalito.

We are so glad you asked! As part of our Nerdy concept we have got all the deetz for you!

See our brewing breakdown chart for detailed bean to water brewing measurements.

Though these may change with future beans and flavor offerings, for now all roasts and flavors have the same suggested measurements.

Please note that these are mere recommendations and if you prefer your brew to be made in a different method, go forth and conquer that Cup-o-Java!

A Quick Summary of our recommendations for our roasts and flavors.

  • Pour Over, K-Cup, and Coffee pot: 15 grams of beans to every 6oz of water.
  • K-Cup brew machines that only do 10oz of water: 18 grams of beans for the 10 oz of water.
  • Espresso Shot: Grind your beans to an appropriate espresso grind, then use the same amount of beans that you would use to fill up the portafilter with when prepping a regular espresso.
  • Bialetti or other Italian Roast: Same as Espresso.
  • French Roast: With a regular French Press Course Grind use 15 grams of coffee for every 6 oz of water.
  • Cold Brew: With a regular French Press or Cold Brew course grind, use 15oz of beans per 6oz of water.
  • Iced-Hot Coffee: Method 1 – Instant Gratification -Pour your hot-brewed coffee or espresso shot(s) over ice and add creamer or milk of choice for an instantly cold coffee. Method 2 – Delayed Gratification – Put your hot-brewed coffee in the refrigerator and wait until it is nice and cold, then add in milk or creamer of choice for a rich cup of cold coffee.

Pre-Ground Beans: Our pre-ground beans are perfect for Pour-Over, K-Cup, and Coffee Pot brews, including hot-iced coffee.  Pre-ground beans can be re-ground as well for espressos.
Whole Beans: Our whole beans allow you to grind for Espresso, French Press, or Cold Brew methods.
